Apple Pencil pressure SOMETIMES working??

My Apple Pencil pressure sensitivity mostly does NOT work since I’ve had it. It’s basically new and it is a compatible generation. My iPad is also new. The sensitivity is more likely to work in OneNote after I have erased something or changed to a different pencil color and then changed BACK to my usual pencil color. My pressure while writing however does not change at all. I don’t press harder. When i purposely do press harder, nothing happens. It is very interesting. So I know that it CAN work but it just doesn’t. I have tried all reasonable troubleshooting. The pencil tip is NEW. It is screwed on properly. All software is up to date. Everything is charged or has been updated/restarted. All settings are set to allow for pressure sensitivity. Anyone else have this issue?
