iPhone 17 Pro Max connectivity issues with iOS 26.0

I recently set up my new iPhone 17 Pro Max and have been experiencing significant issues with data connectivity. Most apps are unable to detect an internet connection, whether on Wi-Fi or cellular. For the few apps that do connect, the connection is extremely slow.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I have already tried, without success:

  • Resetting network settings
  • Toggling Airplane Mode
  • Toggling Wi-Fi
  • Restarting the device
  • Turning off Wi-Fi and testing cellular only
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling apps

My eSIM is active, my carrier confirms there are no account issues, and I can make calls normally. The issue seems specific to data. For example, some apps state “no network detected,” while others (e.g., Facebook) return socket errors.

I have not been able to find other reports of this issue, which makes me wonder if this is specific to my device. Could you please advise on next steps to resolve this?

I have a 17 pro. I had Keep Solid VPN installed and it kept getting in the way with connectivity. When I turned it off - voila!
Wifi and mobile connectivity were restored.
.

I would uninstall it completely unless you need to access state controlled websites. There is little security protection, in fact there is a data risk

Some people use VPNs either to access regionally locked content or for access to work servers. So there is a need.

Understood. But then you'll have to accept that VPNs on iPhone cause connectivity issues. You'll need to live with them if you must use a VPN. Apple is in no way responsible for the fact you live where content may be blocked. But for work servers, VPNs should be administered by the corporate IT department and that is different. That's the category of MDM (Mobile Device Management).

I received the iPhone 17 Pro Max the day before and immediately plugged it in to the back of my Apple Studio Display’s rear USB-C outlet and began charging it, while also using my 13 Pro Max to transfer its data (as one does upon receiving a new Apple phone). From the start, the new phone went straight to 5G instead of WiFi, so I thought it’s because it’s still receiving the migration data from the old Apple 13 Pro Max I’d had. I left both phones alone overnight. In the morning, I noticed the iPhone 17 was still in 5G mode and tried switching to my WiFi (which the old 13 Pro Max was still using). After countless hours and attempts to make the new phone access and accept my WiFi, and after talking with Apple and T-Mobile reps (to no avail ), I made the discovery that by simply unplugging the USB-C cable, the iPhone 17 began receiving the WiFi signal and continues working flawlessly. Interesting, yes?

I just purchased a new iphone 17 pro max and am having many problems- failed calls , dropped calls and many other issues that aren't working ! text messages are not all coming through when transferring from my old iphone 13. I'm not sure if its an APPLE hardware/phone issue or if it's the APPLE IOS 26 version issue. What are the issues and what are the fixes APPLE is doing and when will they be done?

This might come up twice because my original post, although looking like it was there, has disappeared.

I have been having issues with the pro max 17 from day one, wish I had stuck to my Pro Max 16 and just invested in a can of metallic orange paint 🤣

My issues:

1) got stuck transferring from pro max 16, went to 5g and stated it would take over 8 hours. Had to restart the process.

2) Freezes, lags and gets stuck

3) screen unresponsive (maybe connected with above)

4) poor connectivity - cellular and wifi

5) I get a blank block across the front of the screen in Safari sometimes, I can see the page scroll behind and click on links through the blank areas, disappears in landscape mode.

6) sluggish performance, slow responses and slow app launches.

I have 399 gig left and a 2TB cloud package (hardly touched) so it’s not a memory issue.

The phone looks great but it’s just not the great Apple experience I was expecting.
