App Store, can't re-install / re-download App after deleting it

Hi,

From App Store, i have installed the App DuckDuckGo (Browser) on 2 Apple Silicon Systems with macOS 26 (latest released build). On both Systems the same Apple ID is signed in to App Store.


On one System, I had an issue that the App would not complete its update process, showing a progress bar and stopping at about 80%. It sat there for the next day and multiple reboots.

So I tried to initiate a download via App Store but it did not work. Then I deleted the App with the intention to reinstall it via App Store. But that does not work atm.

After App deletion, in the App Store, the DDG App shows the cloud with arrow. I can click, but it won't download. Right click shows open on Finder but it does not open a finder window.

Other App Store installed apps are not affected: I can delete them and reinstall them via cloud-symbol.


How can I fix this so that I can download DDG Browser via App Store? Any ideas?

By today, Sept,23rd, the issue is resolved. Not sure if it is a coincidence, just before I retried it, the latest macOS Update was installed. Also, it could be a missing reboot after I applied some tips provided by ChatGPT to resolve this/such issue like cleaning up App Store cache.

So, I don't know what of the 3 above - App Store fix by Apple, fix through OS Update, fix by ChatGPT remediation guidance - resolved the issue.
