Can I change white text in Contacts notes on iOS 26?

This fix really helped my eyes.

Does anyone know if a few update has a fix for this? This is just terrible and so far no fix.

There has been, to date, no update that changed this.

My battery widget on the home page is white but I have a dark screen (wallpaper) so it is visible but it is black when I'm on the contact pages which are white/gray.

As one of probably several million people with colour blindness mixing colours especially pale one make it difficult for me to read 😞

Per 9/24/25: The white font in the Notes field in Contacts set against the current default light lavender background in the first release of iOS 26 does make legibility difficult and extremely frustrating. This appears to be a widespread current complaint among users after upgrading to iOS 26.

I have found that taking the following steps will increase the contrast for all Contacts by darkening the background color from the currently default lavender to a darker purple. The font will uniformly turn white across all fields in Contacts, but the legibility increases noticeably. I'd consider this a workaround until Apple fixes the contrast problem (which never should have been allowed to slip through quality control in the first place):

1. Settings > Accessibility > Per-App Settings
2. Add App: Contacts
3. Reduce Transparency: Select"ON," then select "OFF"; (Leave "OFF")

OK to back out to Settings.

Your Contacts background color should have turned a darker purple and all fields should be populated with a white font. Visibility should be noticeably better than the default pending a fix by Apple.

I too wish the background color could be white again instead of all the funky colors. White isn’t even a choice. The colors makes reading the information in contacts more difficult than it should be. Some things should be left alone ….. it’s not always better to make changes.

Interestingly, turning “off” transparency in 26 ( without having to do another update that will ruin your phone — I hated the 26, got it by mistake and still maintain the normal update should have remained available, but as it wasn’t, I wasn’t about to hop on the 26.1 bandwagon). Anyway, I digress. Turning off the reduce transparency in 26 also fixes this problem because the pale background becomes no longer pale.
