Apple Wallet Error - Card Not Added, Contact your card issuer for more information.

Hi everyone,

I’m having a persistent issue with my Apple ID and Apple Wallet. In short, I can’t add any of my Saudi cards (Visa, Master, or Mada) to my Apple Wallet when I’m logged into my primary Apple ID.

I’ve tested multiple devices and multiple cards from different banks, and all these cards work perfectly fine on other Apple IDs.

The issue only occurs when I try to add them to my main Apple ID.

I’ve contacted my bank multiple times, and they confirmed there’s no issue on their side since the cards work on other accounts and devices. I’ve also reached out to Apple Support several times, but they keep telling me it’s not a device issue—which I know. I strongly suspect it’s something specific to my Apple ID.

I really don’t want to create a new Apple ID and lose over a decade of data, purchases, and memories tied to it. If anyone has experienced something similar or knows how to request some kind of reset or deeper check from Apple’s side to fix this Apple ID-specific issue, I’d really appreciate the help.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  • Verified Wallet app is updated
  • Verified iOS is updated
  • Changed Apple ID/iTunes region back and forth (Brazil ↔︎ Saudi Arabia)
  • Tested with my wife’s Apple ID (my cards worked fine on her account, regardless of the region)
  • Tested my SAB and STC cards on multiple devices (they work on any device as long as it’s not my Apple ID)
  • Tested on MacBook Pro and iPhone 16 with the same results
  • Tried 5 SAB cards and 1 STC card — all fail only on my primary Apple ID

Any ideas on how to solve this issue? Is there a way to request a 'hard reset' on my Apple Wallet from Apple's side?

Thanks a lot!

After three months of trying everything — different cards, banks, and reaching out multiple times to both Apple and my bank — I’ve officially given up.

The only solution was to create a new Apple account and migrate everything from my old one. Same device, same regional settings, same phone numbers — but now all cards work perfectly.

My biggest frustration is how poorly Apple handled the case through customer service.

If you face this issue, don’t waste your time trying to fix it — just create a new account.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help.

Has your Apple Account (formerly known as Apple ID) ever been involved in a fraud issue or refund issue with Apple or a merchant you used Apple Pay? Ever had a refund issue with a subscription or other service associated with your Apple Account? Can you make purchases on the Apple App Store or iTunes Store etc.?

Have you tried your Apple Account on another device such as iPhone or iPad? If so, did it work?

So, when you say you have tried logging out of your Apple ID on the device, logged into another Apple ID and the cards can be added to your device. I understand that it works when you add a card to another device using a different Apple ID.

How many Apple ID’s have you used when doing your testing?

There is no such thing as a hard reset on you Wallet. The closest thing would be deleting the app from your device and downloading and re-installing the app.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your response.

To clarify:

  • I tested with multiple Apple IDs — my wife’s, my friend's, and two other test accounts. On all of them, I was able to add my cards with no issue.
  • On my primary Apple ID only, the cards fail to add, regardless of the device (iPhone 16, MacBook Pro and Apple Watch).
  • I’ve also already deleted and reinstalled the Wallet app, but the issue persists.

That’s why I strongly believe the problem is tied to my Apple ID itself, not the devices or the cards.

Best regards,

Pedro

I am currently in Saudi Arabia and have already tried switching my region back and forth between Brazil and KSA, as well as adjusting the App Store and iPhone location settings, but nothing worked.

The Wallet App used to work perfectly, but the issue started after my wife’s iPhone stopped working: I got a new device for myself and gave her my old one. She wiped it and restored her iCloud backup on my old phone, while I set up my new iPhone using my own iCloud backup.

Since then, I’ve been unable to add any Saudi cards to my Wallet. Interestingly, international cards from Europe and Brazil still work without any problem.
