Has anyone used the ORICO Mac mini M4 2TB Storage & Docking Station, External SATA SSD (Non-Removable)with their mini Mac? And if so is it a good way to get 3TB? Or do you have any recommendations for something similar, apple does not make this device or one like it.
You can use that Dock, a similar Dock w/SSD or most any external SSD to expand the Mac Mini's storage space.
What you would do is run from the Mac mini from it's smaller internal storage drive.
Then access your Photos, Music and Movie Libraries stored on the external SSD.

If budget is a primary concern consider this type of setup:
I have several, a 4 TB for Time Machine and 5 others of 1 TB size. They have a 500 MBs read and write speed which I find is plenty fast for me. I can open a 54,800 Photos library in less than 2 seconds.
I also have a 1 TB internal SSD boot drive as I keep a minimum of 100 GB of free space at all times to facilitate optimal system and application performance.
Because I need 2TB and I am ordering a new mini Mac for my RV. The upgrade for a 2TB SSD is $540, which I think is crazy, I can buy a 2TB SSD for under a $100, but if I put in in I will void my warranty. So I was looking for an alternative and the Orico showed up. I am not set on the Orico if you have a recommendation I am open.
Nope, Apple doesn't make MM peripherals except for displays. Why are you considering the Orico vs others?
I know it's more money but you would be wise to spend it or at least to save up until you can spend it. Using a Mac is all about the user experience, why cheapen that?
I can do it, it just makes me mad they have to charge $540 for something that cost under a hundred dollars. 😡
Understood, it makes me mad that a BMW costs more than a Hyundai. :-)
