WhatsApp not reading messages in CarPlay

For some reason my CarPlay is no longer reading my WhatsApp messages (it will read texts as before however). It will announce a WhatsApp being received but when I press to hear the message the car simply says “would you like to reply?” It’s always worked fine in the past but recently has stopped- is it a bug in a recent update?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 18

Fixed !!!! Today… 26/06/2025

whatsapp version 2.25.18.85 resolved the issue for me !!!

Still on IOS 18.5

My son and I are experiencing the same issue with two completely different cars ….. perhaps Apple could enlighten us to what is happening or offer a work around solution, perhaps?
