Extracted from the Apple Article Keep the iPhone display on longer: "The display automatically turns off when iPhone is either face down or obstructed from view, not near a paired Apple Watch, when a CarPlay session begins, while Continuity Camera is in use, while Low Power Mode is on, while Sleep Focus is on, or at your usual bedtime."

Display Shutting Off After Notifications in iOS 18.4 Update:

A. Restart iPhone:

Start with a Restart: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

B. Enable Background App Refresh:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Background App Refresh

C. Turn on "Do Not Disturb" in Focus:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Focus
  3. Tap: Do Not Disturb
  4. Tap: Focus Status
  5. Toggle On: all options

D. Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Thank you for the follow up reply.

Its time to Upgrade:

Well, your iPhone model(7 Plus) is more than 9 generations old. So, I’d take this as a good reason to upgrade to a newer model. Apple typically provides updates for 7 years, and then discontinues it.
