My new airpod pro 2nd gen type c isn't connecting

I've followed the steps of opening the lid, holding the set up button, but rather than flashing white, it goes white once, makes a weird error sound then goes back to amber. Also on first opening the lid, it makes that same weird error sound.

AirPod max connection problems Hello I bought my APM around 18 months ago and they always worked fine. Two weeks ago my APM max stopped connecting to my iPad and iPhone. I tried recharging the battery, pressing the noise cancelation button for 5 sec, and pressing both buttons until I saw the red light and the white light and nothing. I also noticed that the LED indicating the battery status doesn’t work unless connected to the charger and when I press the Noise cancelation button. After some days my APM just started working normally for two days and suddenly they stopped again. Did anyone have the same problem? Any suggestions to help?

Also, I can pair one or the other individually, so it shouldn't be a compatibility or battery issues
