i have a pulwtop mac mini doc that was working an hour ago, showing the internal 2tb drive
ive upated to 15.4.1
its no longer there.
ive restarted.
un plugged, plugged back in .
the usb mouse works when plugged into the dock
i did enable filefault when 15.4.1 initially restarted.
i only bought the dock this morning.. :(
I assume you mean the drive in the dock, correct? Does it show in the disk utilities app? What brand of drive did you use? Some have reported issues with drive compatibility with certain docks. I use WD NVME drives and no issue with my docks. I would remove the drive and reinstall. File vault should not be an issue.

I tried it on my MacBook and it didn’t appear on that either ( which wasn’t updated ) so I think it’s faulty ssd
Yes / it was in the dock .. the usb ports / sd card reader work fine.
it was a Samsung 990 drive.
nothing appeared in disk util
I think overall it was just coincidence that it stopped / broke at the time of the update - a replacement is on its way.

another update.
the 2nd samsung 990 drive worked for a day or two and then also stopped appearing.
i tried it in another caddy and no luck..
tried it on macbook .. no luck.
nothing appeared in the diskutil app.. it was formatted and usable then suddenly when i restarted machine, it was no longer appearing on desktop/finder
thats the 2nd one to die in a week... i'll return and get refund, try a different brand.
i'm also returning the dock
i'm fitting them correctly.. they slot in at an angle, press them down and screw them in . then attach a sticky rubber strip that sits between the ssd and top of case/dock 'flap'
very annoying.
I saw another users that used a WD NVME drive in another brand of dock and it did not work. He changed it for a SS 990 and it worked which is opposite of what you found. I have had great luck with WD SN850X drives so may want to test that.
