How can I fix loud notifications on my AirPods Pro 2nd gen?

When I have my Airpods Pro 2 in my ears and receive a notification (i.e. Messages or Email) it is far too loud. I am NOT talking about music volume or sound coming in from the outside or sound effects volume.

The settings available in Settings/Accessibility/AirPods DO NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. I have the slider all the way down and these things still try to blow out my eardrums.

This has been a problem for years. Why can it not be fixed?

Oprn Setting, go to sounds and haptics, and adjust volume there. If it doesn’t work let me know.

Hi, when you get the message, while he's talking, turn down the volume... you'll see that it solves the problem. It must be done while the message is running otherwise you can't change the volume.

I apologize for misunderstanding your initial instruction. I should have read your reply closer and not assumed that you meant Accessibility/Airpods. I prostrate myself before you.

I’m sorry, but did you even read what I wrote?

That settings applies only to sound effects. It DOES NOT effect the volume of notifications.
