iCloud Mail drafts folder empty but shows random draft counts

After one of the updates a few months ago, I started seeing a strange issue with the drafts folder in my iCloud mail. It would say that I had a random number of drafts (7 today, 13 yesterday, 9 the day before), but the folder itself is empty. I've talked with Apple support and they put in a ticket for it - saying there was one other report of this. The person I spoke with asked me to share this issue with the community to see if more people are experiencing this - so that they can possibly track down the server that might be causing it.

So, please let me know in the comments if this is happening to you. I can put you in touch with the support person so that they can look into it further.

Thanks!

Incorrect Numbers Shown in Mail Drafts Folder:

I'm not having this issue, and don't recall seeing anything reports of this. You'd contacted Apple via phone. You should also provide them a report of this on the Apple Feedback Web site. Next time you get this issue, take a screenshot of it, reopen your Case ID, and provide it to the Apple Rep when you get back to them.

Report this as a Bug to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary
