How do I close or open all disclosure triangles in the Final Cut Pro browser?

No actual question here, I mean, this is the answer. A user tip, if you will. Someone asked this 4 years ago, and I'm sorry, but I only learned the trick now (actually rediscovered it from last year -- sorry!).

This is for Final Cut Pro v10.6.8. I don't know if it works in other versions.

Say you've got Final Cut open. And you're in Browser List view. And you want to open or close all the disclosure triangles. Someone asked this four years ago, so I know it's a bit late, but I recently stumbled upon the solution!

Press Cmd-A to select (highlight) all clips, or the usual ways to select only some of the clips, then the right arrow key opens them all, and the left-arrow key closes them all!

The macOS universal that works in FCP is to click the top level triangle while holding the Option key. It will open or close that triangle and every triangle below it.

I just tried it and it only "opened" one clip. It doesn't work.

Oh, you mean press Option and clip the Clips triangle. OK, that works, but sometimes you might only want to open some of them at once. Then you need to select them using the usual methods. I prefer the keyboard shortcuts, esp. with disclosure triangles, for some reason. And Final Cut is the only app I know that has gobs of shortcuts, and they all work (so far, anyway!) You can't say that for most other apps, IINM. Even then, for many things in FCP you either have to use the mouse, or if shortcuts are even available, use a tedious, time-consuming path.
