Inquiry About Lack of Output in Daisy Chain Setup with DisplayPort 1.1a Monitor

I am using a MacBook Pro with the M4 Max chip and have a monitor with daisy chain functionality as the primary monitor in my setup. When I connect an FHD monitor that supports only DisplayPort 1.1a (input only) as the last monitor in the chain, there is no output to this monitor.

Could you please help me understand the possible cause of this issue? Specifically:

  1. Does macOS or the M4 Max chip impose any limitations on connecting older DisplayPort 1.1a monitors in a daisy chain setup?
  2. Is there a compatibility issue between DisplayPort 1.1a and the daisy chain feature of the primary monitor, or are additional configurations required?
  3. Are there any minimum DisplayPort version or feature requirements for the last monitor in a daisy chain to display output successfully?

I’d appreciate any technical explanation or guidance on resolving this issue.

Thank you!

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.2
