Thumbnails not showing in finder for PDF, JPG etc

I have tried various workarounds but can't find a solution. I can only see the generic icon - not the thumnail (preview). I have changed view options, checked that show icon preview is ticked, force quit this process (com.apple.quicklook.ThumbnailsAgent), booted up in safe mode, removed adobe acrobat (full version) and nothing is helping. Weirdly, I can see the icons if the view is set to large icons - but I don't want this. I am using iMac (apple M1) with Sequoia 15.2. Please assist.
