If the Find My iPhone option is grayed out on your iPhone, it could be because of a few reasons, including:

  • Stolen device protection
  • This feature is enabled, so you'll need to disable it. To do this:
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap Face ID & Passcode
    3. Enter your passcode
    4. Scroll down and tap Stolen Device Protection
    5. Tap Stolen Device Protection again to disable it
  • Content and privacy restrictions
  • These restrictions may be enabled, so you'll need to disable them. To do this:
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Go to Screen Time
    3. Go to Content & Privacy Restrictions
    4. Toggle off Content & Privacy Restrictions
    5. Make sure Location Services is set to Allow
    6. Make sure Passcode & Face ID is set to Allow
  • Outdated operating system
  • The phone's operating system may need to be updated. To do this:
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Go to General
    3. Go to Software Update
  • Temporary issue
  • A restart may fix the issue.
