i was eating chips at my macbook and 1 fell near the hinge and when i closed it i heard a crunch i didnt think any thing of it until i went to watch a movie on it 2 days later, it was cracked right at the corner of the hinge what the heck apple why cant you make it out of plastic

I suppose Apple could say "why don't you eat food someone other than over your Mac"? Or "if we made it out of plastic, people would be constantly complaining about how easy it is to scratch". :-)

As to the crack, if you have an AppleCare+ plan on your Mac, that provides coverage for accidental damage. Make an appointment at an Apple Store or authorized Apple service center and have the Mac evaluated. Otherwise, you'll need to pay for the repair or live with the crack.
