Is there a more permanent fix for Spotlight Index not working-Sequoia 15.1 Update

Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support (CA)

I rebuilt the index per the above fix which was given on a different chat, but every few days it stops working. The only thing that works quickly to reset the search index is to reboot my computer. Is there a quicker more permanent solution? Needless to say, I use search constantly and this is a huge pain.

Something may be preventing it completing indexing or corrupting it in some way.

you can completely reset it using the meta-data utility in terminal:

sudo mdutil -X /

You may have to log out and log back in or restart to get it to resume indexing, or you can use this command:

sudo mddutil -i on /

The problem is in no way endemic to Sequoia or the 15.1 update.
