I'm having trouble with my shared albums > there was an error adding the selected items

Since the mid October I'm not able to add photos to shared albums. I have one album with 428 pictures another with 54 pictures and 1 video. The first one is 412,6MB the second 12,3MB.

to my knowledge I'm well within the limits for shared albums.

The number of subscribers is 3, so no problem there.

I've been browsing the web and the Apple website for answers, but cannot find it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction how to resolve the problem and continue to add more photos to share with others?

It would be much appreciated.

Have you looked at this page describing the limits for shared albums? Shared Album limits - Apple Support

What is the filetype of the video? How long does it play?

Spatial photos and videos taken with the iPhone are not supported.

    • "Image formats: HEIF, JPEG, RAW*, PNG, GIF, TIFF
    • Video file types and formats: HEVC, MP4, QuickTime, H.264, MPEG-4

Shared Albums also support special formats that you capture with your iPhone, like slo-mo, time-lapse, Live Photos, and Memory videos. When shared, photos are reduced to 2048 pixels on the long edge, except panoramic photos, which can be up to 5400 pixels wide. You can share GIFs that are 100MB or smaller. Shared Albums do not support spatial photo or video.

Videos can be up to fifteen minutes in length and are delivered at up to 720p resolution.

Due to storage limitations, your Apple TV might display only your most recent photos.

*You can't upload HEIF images, HEVC videos, or RAW photos to Shared Albums on your Windows PC."

Yes, I have looked at the page describing the limits, which I already stated in my first message.

There are no spatial photos, or videos from the iPhone involved.

I'm trying to share the same kind of photos in the same image formats as I've been doing before.

So, from my perspective, there should be no reason whatsoever for additional photos to be denied for uploading to the shared albums.

Also, in my view, the error message is too generic and it doesn't indicate at all what the real problem is.

I've been an Apple client for quite some time, but I'm beginning to think that OneDrive or GoogleDrive will have to be my new method of sharing photos. Which is a shame of course.

I do hope however that help can be found in this community.
