Unable to receive or send emails on Hotmail

Try this
Remove the email address from Mail and re-enter it and use the Outlook.com option. If that doesn't work you can also try the Microsoft Exchange option.
It sometimes works, but Microsoft has increased their security on their servers.
If you can not get Mail to work you might have to use the Outlook app on the app store
