FCP 11 not showing custom overlays

This seems to be a bug. I have seen more reports of the same problem. I cannot see the overlays either.

We should all report it: Final Cut Pro->Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback...

They are officially on it. Just got off the phone with Apple business guy.

Just for what it is worth.... All my custom overlays are gone too. When I created a new one - just a PNG with basic rule of thirds lines (which should come standard with FCP anyway) ... than the scale is completely wrong. Tried it multiple times.

I have an update!

I just spent a couple of hours on the phone today with Apple's Pro App business division and went through many scenarios to make sure it was in fact a bug. It is!

As of today Jan 9, 2025 (or tonight ... depending on your time zone), it is being sent to the engineers to get a fix. This could still take a while but it's official! Yay!

I have the same issue. In my instance the overlay is loaded but it doesn't display properly. I've tried creating a new one from scratch with no luck. The scale and position is completely misaligned so I'm only seeing the top right corner of the guide but it's in the lower left corner of the viewer.

Same here. I use this feature all the time too. I need it corrected please. Come on Apple don't let me down.

im always refresh app store to see update on FCP 11 to fix this overlay issue .. it seems waiting for 2-4 weeks its too long 😅

Use feedback to add your voice to those reporting. Apple is not here, you have to let them know.

Final Cut Pro->Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback...

I already have the overlays. They just don’t work in the show overlay feature in Final Cut any longer since version 11. I can always plop them on the top layer, but it’s A nice feature that used to work perfectly. Now it doesn’t.

When I left the feedback on Apple, they asked what version of Final Cut I’m using and they did not have number 11 as an option For any complaints.

had same issue, tried everything, finally sent report into Apple, hope they have patch soon.

There usually is .1 update in two to four weeks.

I have put in two feedback requests. Over a week ago now. I hope they fix it soon. It's driving me crazy. (I know. Things could be way worse.)

What kind of overlays do you need? Are the overlays something that can be easily made in Motion?

I was just asking because simple overlays don't take long to make in Motion. If you post your overlay here, I might be able to recreate it as a template for you.
