AirPod 4 discomfort in right ear

Just purchased. One rubs against right ear. Causes pain and I can’t wear more than 5 minutes. I have tried all positions of earphone. How do I return these? I thought, with the price, these would be the best earphones available. I don’t know who the ear model was for the all plastic AirPod, but they do not fit me. I hoped to use the enhanced conversation mode. Right ear pressure/constant pain from the AirPod 4+ prevents even trying them out in a crowd.
