green button function in sequioa

With the function of automatic window resizing in Sequoia, that seems to be operated, apart from automatic when dragging, through the green button top left of any window, some functionality has been lost in the process of integrating this function.

I missed the function of the green button with the option key down, which caused a window to resize to the size of a document, and toggle by pressing again.

Question: how do I get back this function? Can it be changed through terminal, or is it just a feature I have to get used to and live with it?

Mac Studio, macOS 15.1

I see no Terminal command to override these new feature.

>System Settings>Desktop and Dock

I found the answer! Like all too many functions in the modern macOS, it’s buried beneath a pile of obscurity.

Go to System Settings… and select Desktop & Dock. Near the top of the page is an option called Double-click a window’s title bar to. Set it to Zoom. I guess some engineer decided that double-clicking a window’s title bar should function identically to ⌥-clicking the green button.

thank you, at least someone gives a reply. I have been asking in another topic, but everyone talks about this ne function and how to shut it down.

I get it, but I really miss this feature the way it was, it was an important part of my workflow.

Do you know if anyone know how to let the designers know this was a bad decision?

thanks anyway

Yes I know of that function.
i do not use that, there is no need.
before sequoia that had a different function, fitting a page of the document.

yes, it did have a different function, as I noted, but now it has no function that’s useful at all to anybody. If you want to be able to zoom easily, you should change your habit patterns. I doubt that zoom will come back because even Apple isn’t implementing it correctly in some of their apps

YES, that seems to work.

Why in €£¢&- name did they do this.

unbelievable.

But, I still liked the old function better. …it will do until it is fixed

thanks!

addition:

after changing the setting to 'zoom' I just tried the green button again with the optionkey down: would you believe it? it works again like before.

It seems that the problem is solved.
