Can not move face circle in Photos and other issues

When in the Photos app in the section for People and Pet the app wont allow me to move the circle to the proper location. When I try to move the circle all it does is grab the picture. Another issue that I figure is a problem with this new version of the MacOS 15.0.1 (24A348) is that a large number of the photos have been unnamed. Unfortunately, I had a stroke in 2017 and it has caused a memory problem. Lots of faces, no names and not a great memory which is why I always named my photo faces for the people so I can remember them. I have tried all kinds of ways to get it to work.

Try to keep in mind that I don't know what you know unless you tell me, and I can't see your screen.

Photos does not want to slow down your work by scanning faces while you're using it. The best thing is to keep the computer plugged in and running, but with Photos not in the foreground. I usually have another app in the foreground. Some think, but are not sure, that closing Photos speeds things up. My guess is that it doesn't make much difference, as long as Photos isn't up front.

This may be hard for us to figure out without seeing your computer. The little circles that Photos puts on what it recognizes as faces can't be moved-- they show what they think is a face.

The little circles that we put on can be moved (because it's what we recognize as faces,) but sometimes you have to click someplace in the picture to let Photos know that your clicks are now about that window instead of another one. Sometimes I type the name in first, and then it lets me move the circle.

You don't say where you are trying to rename a person.

With a new OS, Photos re-scans the faces-- it may take weeks. I always include the names in the captions--the caption is more stable than the Face IDs. For people who come up a lot, I use keywords for them. This all helps when face IDs get lost.

Last night I opened photos and minimized it. I noticed at the bottom of the page it says it updates them when the program is not in use. Tons of my pics dont have names and it has people mixed up but I can move the circles with the + sign on them not the ones the program places. I know the difference. I have to go through and fix thousands of pictures again.

I'm not sure if it matters either way but Its still finding faces. I understand you can't see my screen but I'm not a novice either. Photos has always given me problems since the first introduced it into the MacOS. I'm sure it's because I have almost 30k pics. I've gotten the issue with moving the circles I added fixed, The naming of pics is still jacked up. I have a cat named Milo and one named Rufus I took screenshots so you can see them but tried to do a record too so you could see the problem. Website wont allow a recording. Anyway, Milo and Rufus have 2 faces folders each, I have tried to rename them to put them into the actual face but neither of them will allow me to rename them and put them in the proper face, It only shows the face name they are currently in. If I try to do the drag face into the other face and combine them all, it does is play catch and wont allow the combination. It's irritating because each of the wrong face for both cats have only 2 or 3 pics in them. The same issue for people I just dont want to throw a bunch of pics with people and whole names out there.
