"Apple Pay has been disabled because the security settings of this Mac were modified" message in Apple Pay settings

I have basically the same problem as this user:

"Apple Pay has been disabled because the … - Apple Community


I tried the steps and was able to set it up afterwards. But minutes later I had the same problem again.


  • My Software Updates are all set to automatic
  • csrutil is enabled
  • I've tried to set it up with a second admin account, but it only worked for a couple of minutes.

Create new admin account.


Log out of old admin


Log log into new admin try to add a card to Apple Pay, but don’t add it.


log out of new account.


log into old account and start to add a card.


Warning should come up about another account. Reset Apple Pay


For good measure do a restart and log into original account


Delete new admin account.


Apple Pay should work.
