Extremely buggy Mail

Running Sonoma version 14.3 on a Late 2023 MacBook Pro.

Mail is infuriatingly buggy. It will randomly copy and paste a previous paragraph, replacing sentences you have just written when you hit the space bar.

Anyone else experiencing this? A friend I mentioned it to says yes, he has. Has this been identified and is there a fix? I have lost too much time retyping paragraphs and in some cases have to write my message in Pages then copy and paste it.
