One monitor 2 Mac minis one apple keyboard and mouse

So i have ordered one Mac Studio monitor, and two of the new Mac minis.(completely different configuration’s)

One for me and the other for my partner.

I have also bought a Sabrent KVM switch to enable to switch from one Mac to the other.

the question i have is this. I have bought the new apple keyboard and mouse, will this work in this setup?

will we just be able to sign on to either one of our Mac’s, or will i have to setup another way?

thank you all in advance for the invaluable advice.

Rob….

Ideally you need a display, a keyboard and a mouse to use with each of the Mac mini's.

FWIW either of the Mac mini's can use an after-market display, keyboard and mouse.

Assuming i read you correctly, for the monitor, all you need is a HDMI selector (assuming you are connected this way). That way, same monitor can be switched from one mac to the other (at touch of a button or remote control).

If I'm reading correctly, Triumph59 ordered a Studio Display that only supports Thunderbolt input.

For the keyboard, my sense is you can indeed use same mouse and keyboard on both macs, however, you may not see what happens on the other mac when you switched monitor (unless it’s logged off of shutted down).

I would rather opt for some third party keyboard and mouse which allow up to 3 devices, again at touch of a key/button. Logitech has some interesting stuff.

That’s the way i share same mouse, keyboard and dual monitors on 3 machines (2 macs, one Windows PC).
