My faceID won’t reset. I set up ApplePay recently and it seems it stopped around that time. Any suggestions?

What error message do you see when trying to reset?
FaceID is not available. Try setting up FaceID later.
When trying to set it up, it keeps telling me to move the camera lower and then higher but doing so moves my face out of the camera frame.
This has been corrected. It seems my settings for iMessage needed adjusting. Not sure why this affected setting up faceID but it worked after I adjusted the iMessage settings.
