Can’t add Outlook for Hotmail on iPhone 6

If you are referring to the Outlook app, the current version of it requires iOS 17 which your iPhone 6 cannot run so you won't be allowed to install it.

If you have downloaded the outlook app previously with that Apple ID, you may be able to get a compatible version from your download history.

If you can’t buy a device from someone you trust completely, then either look to the Apple refurbished store, save up your pennies and buy a currently available new iPhone, or change your plans.

Buying the cheapest iphone you can find often results in throwing your money away on a useless, unsupportable device.

I would look for an iPhone XS or later. This includes the SE 2nd Generation or 3rd generation.

With that said, you should still be able to add your Hotmail account to Apple's default Mail app on an iPhone 6.

Settings ➜ Mail ➜ Accounts ➜ Add Account ➜ Outlook.

Outlook requires ios 17 or newer. It will not run on your iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 is not compatible with anything later than ios 12.

If there is an add-on VPN around, or add-on security apps, remove all that, restart, and try again.

Then if removing and re-adding the email account does not resolve this, check with Microsoft Hotmail support.

iOS 11 and later offer modern authentication (OAuth 2.0), so there may well be something else going on here.

For current iOS 18 support, you'll want iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone SE 2nd gen, or newer iPhone models.

If you want access to Apple Intelligence features (if available in your country or region), you'll need iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16.
