Why is my Mac Mail showing only headers?

Hi I am using a Mac Mini (Late 2014) running Monterey 12.7.6. I have two email addresses using IMAP. Recently on opening Mail when e-mail is downloaded only the mail headers are displayed, even for old mail after about 4 or 5 minutes the content becomes visible. At various times during the day this happens when trying to view the inbox content. Can you please help me to stop this?

In addition to posting the EtreCheck report — which will provide a hardware and software configuration report — I've also met apps and occasionally macOS itself leaking memory. Launch Activity Monitor app, and check.

I've also met add-on security-related apps that play havoc with performance or stability, and occasionally iCloud Private Relay seems to get snarled and needs to be toggled. EtreCheck will usually show those.

And is this specifically only mail, or are other activities including web browsing also encountering performance problems?
