iPad mini 7 auto on/off.
My new iPad mini 7 does not auto turn on or off when in various covers. Can I test it to see if it would work with Apple cover. Apple shop did not want to help or get a cover out of a box to try.
iPad mini, iPadOS 18

Many iPad cases include a cover to protect the screen when it is closed - and the cover often (but not always) includes an embedded magnet to operate the iPad screen auto-lock function. The magnet and corresponding iPad sensor location may differ between models.
Unless the third-party case is explicitly designed for your iPad mini7 (a.k.a. IPad mini A17 Pro) - and includes the required trigger magnet - the Auto Lock function won't work.
The Apple cover designed for your iPad mini A17 Pro will definitely operate the iPad's auto-lock function.
Thanks for that response, however, you knew that was coming, I have run a magnet carefully over the screens of three other iPads mini and a big one and I can find where the internal receiver turns the device on and off on each of them, but not on my iPad! I have checked the setting is on in Display. It looks like I will have to find someone with a new iPad mini with Apple case and see if it works on my iPad. Thanks
