I am using an M2 Mac Mini Pro w/32 GB with Sequoia v15.1. All of the RW2 RAW images posted so far in these threads image correctly in Finder as icons. No image appears in Quick Look (black window). None appear correctly in Apple's Preview where all are half transparent (checkerboard) and half red. They do appear correctly in Affinity products.
Yes, same here, although I can't confirm for Affinity programs. However, programs like Pixelmator Pro also fail to open these images in a similar manner, which makes me suspect that the problem is somewhere within Core Image.
The images from DPReview posted by dialabrain use firmware v0.4 and the image posted to Google Drive uses firmware v1.00.
There is something other than the firmware version variance going on with these observed limitations though it is not obvious. What we don't know is if a camera vendor provides certain data to Apple and RAW support is implemented for that camera model, if the camera vendor provides subsequent updates to Apple that are incorporated into the current (at that time) operating system. We also do not know the quality control process in use by the product team(s), and it is easy to blame that, however convenient.
Just to test that support worked at least at some point in the past I tested the images on an Intel iMac with Ventura:
And, just to show in this tread the problem on Sequoia as well:
And in case the compression makes the text unreadable: Here the screenshots on Google Drive.
PS: @dialabrain Notice how all of the file names in window title bars are left aligned? ;-)
