Following sequoia update I cannot use cabled ethernet. Only wifi

Updated to sequoia--now at sequoia 15.1. After updating to sequoia 15.0.1, cabled ethernet no longer worked. My only solution was to use wifi.

I have the impression Apple is trying to unify connectivity to iPhone, tablet and laptop. Since iPhones, tablets and laptops do not have ethernet ports, you are restricted to use Wifi. However, I prefer wired ethernet for Internet connectivity for security reasons.

Do you have any solution to this problem?

Let's try a simple test.

With your Mac connected to your local network by Ethernet:

  1. Open a Terminal session, and then, enter: dig www.apple.com. In the result, look for the value for status. Success would be status = NOERROR
  2. With the Terminal still open, enter the following command: dig 1.1.1.1 This time success would be: status = NXDOMAIN

If the first step fails, but the second does not, then you have a DNS configuration issue on your local network.

I disabled and removed adblock. I also promoted Ethernet to the top of the Network Services list. I have Ethernet and WiFi services activated in the Network Services list. However, if I switch off WiFi, and leave Ethernet services active, I can no longer connect to the Internet. I have the impression when Ethernet is at the top of the network list, it is simply ignored.
