i'm exporting a current project in optimized/original and i just found i can work on another project at the same time but the main question is can i work on the other project in proxy? would that affect the project I'm exporting?

Yes, you can.
Once you launch the export, you can even continue working on the same project if you want, and it will not affect the export in any way.
The only effect you could have is to slow down the export, since it works in the "background" - which in fact means that it works when FCP is otherwise idle.
You cannot switch to proxy while you're exporting. The application won't let you.
