Remove your email address from Mail and re-enter it using the appropriate option.
That did it and then I used the password I use to log into the Spectrum ISP web page for my emails. I was confused by another method given me last April when a similar shut down occurred. Thanks for your help.
That's what I did - deleted it and restarted the new log in. This happened after I updated to 15.1 on Thursday night.
I am good thanks to your advice.
When you say remove your email address what do you mean? your iCloud email?
I did the update yesterday and when I woke up this morning NONE of my internet mail accounts work. I deleted each account, and now they will not connect or verify, and I can't add them.
My gmail accounts will add fine, but my IMAP accounts wont.
They work fine on my older MacBook Pro and my iPhone 15 Pro Max on iOS 18
I deleted the account - the IMAP account - then I started a new one and got a window that wanted - three boxes - my name, my email address, and the password I use to attain access to my ISP's email web page. Then the next window was the Google, Microsoft etc ISP's but near the bottom of that list was "other" - moving to the next window was a Blue @ icon and I choose that and I was connected. I don't know if you needed all of that but that completed my connection. I was not denied the effort to make a new account as you appear to have been. My secret to success was determining the correct password after first removing the old account as Alweir suggested to me.
The crux of my problem was that somehow Sequoia 15.1 disturbed or rendered my web page email password inoperative. When I removed the email account (from Accounts in System Settings select the account and hit the delete button) I then added a new account (Add Account) new window gives me server options and I went to the next page and selected the blue @ icon - then I inserted the passowrd I use to go to the Safari web page that contains my ISP's email send and receive page. I use Mini Mac M2's Apple Mail application to collect the mail from that page as the application permits. My connection began to work again. I think I had also changed my original web page password for a new one and used that new one when establishing the new account.
I have had no problems since AlWeir set me upon the correct path.
Glad it worked for you.
I need specific step-by-step directions for this recommended solution. Thank you.
