Authentication Failure for Mail on iPhone

I actually feel a little stupid,, but I accidentally had put the machine in private mode. This caused a lot of of the issues I was having with signing in signing out. And the mail did the change from private mode to not private. So did this swap make the difference? I really can’t answer my own question but yet I believe that it not only made the difference but fixed all of my issues.

Can’t use new mail icon to access ail. Need to go to aol icon

Yes, your email provider can fix your issue, contact them.

Check and be sure that you have not inadvertently entered into a private browsing mode while using safari. I assume this mode scrambles your ip addresses… or something to that effect.

Which email provider are you having issues with? Yahoo? Gmail? Try some of the solutions listed in this thread that are specific to your provider. If it doesn’t work, let us know.

What did Yahoo support say when you reported the problem to them?

Your phone isn't rejecting your credentials, yahoo's servers are.

Apps>Mail>Mail Accounts>Tap on the Mail Account. The top one "Mail" is what I believe the person is refering to as the Slider. Better known as Toggle Switch.

Apple doesn't authenticate your mail unless you're using icloud. OP made no mention of what email provider they are using.

So Apple doesn't authenticate gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc you know who does, that right those email providers authenticate their own system.

If Yahoo can't do it, then I guess you can't use yahoo find another email provider.

This worked! And me and technology have a rocky relationship. I’ve been locked out of email since 4/2. The advice of “queenbeefastliveslow” didn’t work on its own i had to shut down the phone for a couple of minutes then all those emails started flooding in. Good luck.
