Notes app is lagging since iOS 18 update

It hasn’t yet. Notes works on my iPad and laptop, but on my phone, it’s still laggy (pausing every second) and I’ve done alll the things (closing it multiple times, u installing and reinstalling it). I have a LOT of notes!!!!

In iOS 16 there were no delays in notes, in iOS 17 large text notes (>130,000 characters) slowed down a bit, it was unpleasant. In iOS 18.1 large text notes slow down a lot, it’s impossible to work.

Re-opening and closing the app 20 times didn’t work for me.

I deleted the Notes app. Then reinstalled and allowed all my notes (1002) to load. It didn’t work for me.

I turned off the internet, but large notes (>130,000 characters) still slow down, it is impossible to work. Turning off the internet did not affect it.

Now I edit large notes only in macOS Sonoma, since it’s impossible to do this in iOS 18.1. It’s very inconvenient.

I’m waiting for a fix, otherwise I’ll have to look for a replacement iPhone.

Even with the IOS 18.1 update Apple Note is still broken. I see this is a known issue, what is Apple waiting for ?

All notes that are a little too long start to slow down a lot when typing. Using Apple Note heats up the phone and uses up the battery quickly.

I can't work properly any more and I urgently need to fix this problem. What is Apple doing ?

Well, this is an issue more people experiencing. You'll find more than on thread about this within this forum. Including several possible troubleshoot options which sometimes worked for someone. Meanwhile 18.1 is out which seems to improve (even if not resolve) the error pattern.

Thank you for sharing the steps you took and whether they helped. I am unclear what you mean with your last sentence. I have an iPhone 15 Pro and the lag is unbearable. I don’t think getting a new iPhone will fix the problem, unless the 16 series phones do not have this issue?

No, it´s an issue (issues) with iOS, not with mobile hardware. Thus a change of hardware shall not fix anything. fsum expressed his/her interest for abandoning his Apple stuff if the performance of the Notes app will not be restored quickly.

Yes, this is exactly what happens. I really really don’t want to shorten my notes. I keep them over a long period of time and add to them, so I shouldn’t have to rearrange how I take notes because of an apple update.

I will say, it runs better on my newer devices, though. My phone is a 13 and has the worst response. My newer iPad has less trouble (but still has it).
