I accidentally deleted contents of my calendar. This includes all past and future events including appointments. How can I restore my calendar back to just a few hours or even a day?

I’m not sure. I was in settings. I saw all of the holidays that I must have added because I had not seen them on my calendar before. My best guess is while trying to remove holidays, removed everything.
How did you "accidentally" delete them? Did you delete an email account from your phone? If so, add it back.
