where is macOS Ventura storing my Enterprise Mail that I download into Apple Mail

I am trying to ensure that my Enterprise mail that I read in Apple Mail is secure. It's not being uploaded to the Cloud along with my iCloud mail. Where is it? Can I get it to be uploaded to the Cloud?

So, yes. But before you go down that path, have you considered talking to them for an increase in your server quota? Alternatively, do you need all those emails currently on the server? Usually only emails classified as business records need to be saved (however your employer defines that) and usually any attachments or documents would come off email into a file server or record system (otherwise no one else can access them).

Most places also want transient records purged regularly because they use up valuable storage space.

If there is some reason your employer wouldn't want that - such as a litigation hold on records - then you can't delete anything anyway and again need to circle back to IT for more storage quota.

Your Apple Mail isn't uploaded to the "Cloud" - it starts on the Cloud. It is on Apple's servers, which synchronize with a local folder on your computer that is stored in the Library of your Home folder at /Users/<your account name>/Library/Mail/V10.

Similarly, your enterprise email is on your company's servers - in the "cloud" (or at least their cloud), which synchronizes to another local folder in the same Library location.

I see. In that case, you can create a new Mailbox manually and set the location as "On My Mac" from the location drop down in the New Mailbox creation dialogue.

Then drag the emails or folders you want from your University mail account to the new local Mailbox. If you stored them in folders, just drag the folders and an identical folder will be created locally and all the emails copied.

Thanks. That helps me understand why I can see my @iCloud eMail when I open the cloud.

The problem I am facing is that I am running out of the space allotted to me on the Enterprise server [of the employer from whom I retired]

Is there a macOS Mail app that will download my eMail from the Enterprise server and save it separately on my Mac so that I can delete the messages from the Enterprise server?

Thanks. It's all personal eMail, and post-retirement. This is a separate, personal account that I had. All my work-related eMail was through another account which was passed on to my replacement when I retired.

My former eMail app, Eudora, used to download the mail and hold it on my hard drive, on which I have tons of space. Along the way my former employer, a major Canadian University, switched to Microsoft Enterprise and Outlook. macOS Mail is able to download the mail alright, but it's not a separate copy as Eudora was, which allowed me to delete from the server without losing everything. I guess this just means some hard deleting. I don't know if any other mail app would treat things differently, or if changing to something like GMail would, or is that just another Enterprise equivalent? As you can tell, I'm unsophisticated when it comes to this.
