ApplePay not working

My ApplePay has not functioned since May. It is unable to detect the reader but works fine with online purchases.

I have run through diagnostics multiple times with no issues detected, spoken to three senior advisors and the engineers apparently can't help until I factory reset a SECOND time.

I genuinely feel like there's no fix other than buying another phone.

Has anyone experienced the same?

Which network are you trying to use? It sounds like Australia may have changed their regulations concerning dual network cards.

I have a 14Plus and the NFC functionality ceased to work once I upgraded to iOS 17. I went through Support numerous times and had the hardware checked repeatedly with no issues found. I have also done the complete wipe and reinstall but that did not do anything. At one point I was advised by a more senior advisor that this was a known issue and would be fixed in an upcoming iOS 17 release.

I upgraded to iOS 18 and the functionality came back and was able to use ApplePay and the phone bump for a couple of weeks! Then the upgrade to iOS 18.1 broke it again...

To me, this clearly shows that the issue has to do with the underlying software.
