Thanks to MartinR Terminal command…
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 10.14.6
It will place a copy of the installer in your Applications folder and you can use that to create a bootable installer.
Possible workarounds for not being able to upgrade...
Mostly you just need a more modern Browser than Safari on Catalina, Mojave, or High Sierra like Firefox or Brave.

Details about recent download Brave, for 10.13.6/10.14.6 are here:

Firefox 83.0 System Requirements (mozilla.org)

You can upgrade an iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012) as far as Catalina, but no further.
If you upgrade to Catalina, 32-bit applications will stop working, and iTunes will go away, replaced by separate applications. Catalina is not one of the "most recent three" and is not supported by the likes of Microsoft and Adobe. It is enough to let you run current versions of Firefox, LibreOffice, and the Affinity V2 programs (Photo, Designer, Publisher).
When are you getting these error messages? Is it in the App Store when you try to get the new OS versions, after they have downloaded and you try to run them, something else?
Are you getting them from the App Store? By searching for them or by running software update? From the command line as BDAqua suggested?
BTW, the links to the App Store versions from online are:
Mojave: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-mojave/id1398502828
Catalina: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-catalina/id1466841314
Thanks for all that good info!
I tried going to macOS Mojave but it didn't work.
I'll try going to 10.16... and if that works, maybe I'll just go on up in small increments.
I do appreciate all help on this, so if you are out there and have some good ideas for me, please DO join the "fray"!

I want too upgrade my iOS 14.6 to iOS 15.0
Are you talking about an iPhone or a Mac? This thread is about Macs, which run macOS.
If you are talking about a Mac, which specific Mac (model name and hardware model year) are we talking about? That would determine whether you can upgrade to macOS 15 (Sequoia).
looks like you can go to macOS 10.14
2012 iMac (21.5-inch
If I can't go all the way to 10.15.7, is there something higher than 10.13.6 that will work for me?
