How to contact Photos in iMovie

I am using a iMac with macOS 14.6.1 and iMovie 10.4.2.

When i start a new project my photos file is not appearing on the library list on the top left of the iMovie window. How can I get in contact with my pictures and videos in photos

iMac 27″, macOS 14.6

Adding to my previous response:

In addition to confirming that your Photo app library is designated as the system photo library, you must also confirm that Photos has been enabled for iMovie. Go to your Mac's system preferences/settings and, for more recent operating systems, select Privacy & Security > Photos and enable Photos for iMovie.

For older operating systems, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Automation and, in the right side window pane, check the Photos box under iMovie to enable Photos for iMovie.

I tried to make my Photos app library to a System Photo Library. But this possibility is not available. «Bruk som Systembibliotek» is the Norwegian translation of «confirm as System Photo Library». As you can see, the library is on my computer (bibliotek = library). Why is the library not available? Is there an other possibility? .

Hi,

iMovie will only link to the Photos app library that is designated as the System Photo Library. So, go to your Photos app general preferences and confirm that it is the System Photo Library. Or if by chance you have your Photos library stored on an external drive, and the drive happens not to be plugged into your Mac, then iMovie cannot link to it.
