How to revert back the calendar view which is prior to the release of iOS 18

How can you revert back the the calendar view prior to the release of iOS 18. This new view is horrible and makes viewing my various events each day more difficult. Apple should give users an option of opt-in on changes while allowing you to keep what was perfectly fine.

I hate the new calendar format! I can't see anything. I want my old format back.

I don’t see what is confusing to anyone who has read the thread, but to keep it simple:

  • The calendar app in iOS 18 is different from the one in iOS 17
  • Your choices are to learn how to use it or get a better Calendar app from the app store (there are many)
  • You can make a case with Apple about how you think it should work→Product Feedback - Apple, and if enough users suggest the same or similar changes it may happen

Kia ora Lee anne. I agree with you and all who detest this update! It was totally arbitrary. 'If it ain't broke don't fix it!' It should have been optional.

I wrote to apple on the product feedback page as it's the only way they read a complaint - apparently. I do hope your day gets better, kia ora

Dear Apple. I’ve been a loyal customer since iPhone 4. Due to this very unpopular “upgrade,” this will be my last iPhone. You messed up and are not listening to your users. I’m sorry you’re not willing to make this right.

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user forum for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

Product Feedback - Apple

If you would like help with a specific issue start by reading the thread you posted to, and if you don’t find useful advice there then post your about your problem with the Calendar app in more detail.

Lawrence do you work for Apple??? If this is so easy, could you let the thousands upon thousands of users… probably now in the millions and millions, know how to work around this fiasco and see a full day of 30 appointments easily!!!

Lawrence, while very knowledgeable about Apple products, doesn't work for Apple. This is a user-to-user forum. Apple employee's post rarely and are always identified.

I suspect that "millions and millions" of people don't care that much about the changes. Most of the ones who do probably did one of the things Lawrence suggested:

  • You can make a case with Apple about how you think it should work→Product Feedback - Apple, and if enough users suggest the same or similar changes it may happen

Continuing to complain about it here, while perhaps affording some limited catharsis, accomplishes nothing.

Agree. I found it slightly helpful to have it in Details view. But, there’s too much gap between the weeks. It does allow you to pinch to contract or expand the view, making it, again, slightly easier to see. But, the only way to view my Apple calendar and see everything how I need to see it is on my iPad now. :(

TL;DR

FACT: you can’t go back

FACT: you can change settings to resolve most of the differences

FACT: There are many better calendar apps in the App Store

FACT: posting in this user-to-user forum will not bring anything to Apple’s attention

I have just summarized this whole thread.

How do I get old format bk?

You don’t. You learn how to use the new calendar features→What’s new in iOS 18 - Apple Support

You can also read the thread you just added to, which has advice from dozens of other users.

Just called Apple Support and I am told this garbage is the only thing available.
Sometimes you people do the worst things to this phone
Very frustrated

But personally, I have never liked the Apple Calendar in any of its incarnations, which is why I use a 3rd party calendar that, in addition to a wide choice of views, has many other features such as event templates that can insert a frequently used event into the calendar with one tap, customizable icons for events (and the ability to search for an icon), grouped events that can be inserted as one item but will create several events, and many other nice features.

As you would know if you had read the rest of the thread, that is not an option. You can let Apple know your thoughts here:

Product Feedback - Apple

And, you can also see if any of the hundres of other calendar apps in the App Store better meet your needs.

Interesting. I haven't noticed any major differences.

Have you told Apple what you think:

And, you can also see if any of the hundreds of other calendar apps in the App Store better meet your needs. I've used Fantastical a lot. Week Cal is also very feature-rich.

Oh no! Please return the prior monthly view. The primary reason I stay with Apple is for the calendar. Please. Please. Long time customer. Please.

No one here in this user-to-user forum can return anything to the prior state. You can let Apple know how you feel here:

Product Feedback - Apple

Meanwhile, you can look at some of the hundreds of calendar apps in the App Store and see if there is one that better meets your needs. Take a look at Week Cal and Fantastical.

Or, if this was the only reason you stayed with an iPhone, sell it and buy an Android phone.
