Apple Watch’s Siri can’t tell the weather forecast and says instead: “I can't tell your location because of your settings.”

Asking my Apple Watch (watchOS 11) for the weather, e.g. by saying “How's the weather today?” I unfortunately always receive this error message: “I can't tell your location because of your settings.

Where would you like to hear the weather for?”

I’ve seen a similar thread here but it’s unfortunately locked already, so I decided to ask this question again but also provide the solution, that worked for me.

On the iPhone (iOS 18), under Settings

Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Siri I checked “While Using the App”. That solved the problem for me.

Hope it helps others, too!

Same issue in Apple Watch series 10.

Siri stucks on that response both ask for the weather or if I ask for traffic to work directions.

I’ve changed and turned off a lot of setting to save battery usually with all the pre setting on I barely got a day use now I get 3 days use on my way my iPhone is still barely a whole days use even after turning off a lot of setting…but anyway on the Apple Watch if you turned off setting to conserve battery for Siri to work properly with your location on your watch make sure in location services the Apple Watch faces are enabled with while using the app that fixes the issue of getting that “I don’t know where you are”
