I can share my Numbers spreadsheet or save it to the Cloud - I cannot do both

I have Numbers 14.1 on the iMac and OS Ventura 13.7. My Numbers spreadsheets are saved to the iCloud and shared to my iPad where the Numbers version is 14.2 and iPadOS 17.7. When I try to share the spreadsheet from the iCloud it shares and then indicates it is off-line. However, the sharing works between the iCloud and the iPad - they remain in sync. The iMac version is not synced. I can either share it or I can save it to iCloud but I cannot have both. What do I need to do to solve this problem?

Same issue here. Also getting the “You’re offline” notice.

Have been successfully sharing a particular Numbers Sheet with another (remote) user for a number of years.

The Sheet window title, that shows the sheet name, ends with “…Sharing (Offline)”. The internet connected and my iCloud settings have not changed.

When restarting numbers the following notice appear:

”Can’t Collaborate

To collaborate, you’ll need to use Numbers on iCloud.com or Numbers on a newer Mac.

Go to icloud.com

OK”

A “Sync Status” window also indicates:

“These shared spreadsheets have edits that will upload to iCloud when you’re online.

****sheet name

Waiting to sync”

My MacBook Pro is online.

Any thoughts on what is going on here appreciated.

Isn't sharing usually between yourself and someone else?

Why would you be sharing with yourself if you can sync via iCloud?

To sync via iCloud just make sure the settings are correct on each device for that to happen.

Sorry, I have used the word 'shared' in two different senses. Not very clear. When I shared with my iPad I mean I can see the same Numbers spreadsheet on the iCloud and the iPad and initially on the iMac. At this stage I have not shared with other people. Then I try to share with other people from whatever instance, it makes no difference. When I share with other people then the iMac version severs its connection to the iCloud and I get this:-

Not sure what is happening. Instead of just relaunching Numbers try restarting your devices. And double-check in Settings the the iCloud Drive and Numbers settings.
