I’ve got an iPhone 13 pro. I upgraded the iOS to 18.0 a few days ago. Took photos of plants yesterday and I’m not shown the leaf when I access the info button on the new photos nor on any of the older ones where earlier I had been able to use the phone to get an ID (even if occasionally it was wrong). I hope someone knows how to get this function back.

I’ve tried that as well and restarted the phone. Still no id feature
Why do they make this so hard? Why do they drop the ball on features that are enjoyed so much? Does anyone at Apple even see these posts?

RavynQ my 12 mini running iOS 18.1 started showing the "leaf" info icon under photos after I reenabled "Show Related Content" (see above comment) so I'm sure your 13 mini has the same capability. Maybe there is another setting that also needs to be enabled? Maybe you can find something that seems to be related in Settings->Camera or in Settings->Search->Camera. But at the very least maybe just shutdown and restart the phone to see if the problem resolves.
I followed all the previous notes to turn on various options in Settings. I am on 18.3. something (Updating to 18.4 soon) and iPhone 12 Mini. The details between before and now are slightly different. You open a plant photo, wait for the "i" in the circle to add little "stars" at the circle's edge. Choose that "i" , then you should see a white outline moving around the plant, then choose the option "Look up Plant" I did that and it worked well and I was able to add a caption to that photo as well. Hopefully that Caption will be in the photo's metadata for future searches.

How about Enhanced Visual Search-- is it turned on in Settings>apps >Photos?
(Honestly, I don't know what these do-- but they sound relevant. Turning them on may still take time to work.)

If anyone else has this problem, Go to settings, click on SEARCH and toggle on ‘Show Related Content’ et violà!

I found it, in Settings > Search > turn ON Show Related Content. Also, make sure you have a language that is supported. I already had English and Spanish, and those are supported.

Me too, why do they change things. I loved the plant lookup.
Me again. The feature has mysteriously reappeared on both my iPhone 14 Pro and my M4 iPad Pro. I have no idea why, but I hope it stays working going forward.
