Sequoia 15 ruined to my Macbook M2 battery life

Hi there,

Is there somebody with the same problem?

After I downloaded the new Sequoia 15 to my Macbook M2 Max(64gb, 2T SSD) my computer fantastic battery time become so bad.

Yesterday charged my Macbook to 80% and I went to bed, while the machine didn't use any program the Macbook battery reduces 73% and this is a totally new thing in this machine.

Two days ago the basic internet using cause total low battery, but before I downloaded Sequoia 15 this kind of work caused max 10-15 % reduce. It so disappointing. The battery time was sooo good! and I always take care for the macbook charging system and the used programs for optimisation.

I'am really sad because it is a spectacular changes and not the good way.

I am having the same problem. My laptop is not even 3 month old and after the update its draining the battery like crazy?

I had the same issue, when streaming a church service, the battery would drain even though the Mac is attached to the power adapter, and never had this problem before the upgrade to Sequoia. That was version 15.0 of Sequoia. I updated to the latest/greatest 15.1 and the problem has resolved. The battery stays fully charged while streaming.

Try that first before worrying about battery health, third party power hogs, etc. If things were fine before going to Sequoia they should remain fine, now that we're beyond a dot-zero version.

Sequoia 15 also ruined the battery of my 2018 MacBook pro. The problem IS NOT SMC. The fix is to turn off as many background process as possible in "allow in the background".

Search "MacBook Overheating While Sleeping on macOS Sequoia 15 0" in youtube, and Michael Moy explained in more detail.

My problem is similar - but never had it before Sequoia 15.2. my battery drains down to zero and I can't turn my Mac Book Pro on, even though it is plugged in and the setting are set to not optimize the battery, so that it "should" stay on when plugged in. It's really hard to get my laptop to turn back on once it has reached this zero state. Apple needs to fix this!

My all data is : 635,83 Gb File changes I did some, because I its my main and only workstation. But I will take leave alone my Mac For the weekend hopefully it can help.

Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) if necessary to resolve some battery issues. " -- is this a safe proceedings?

Can I loose important datas if I reset the SMC?

Depending on 1 - the about of Data on the drive and 2 - how many Files changes you are making while still plugged into charger

Yes it ruined my battery also. Do much that I HAD to buy a new laptop because I was barely able to start my other one! It became so unreliable I was afraid it may never start again.
