Play CD in a Mac without importing

Hi folks, any tips on how to play a CD in a mac without importing it? There used to be a setting where you could designate what to do on CD insertion, but my buddy is struggling. Can anyone help? Unfortunately, I don’t have my Mac handy to dig around.
