I have an Apple Watch Ultra 1 version but after downloading WatchOS 11 and iOS 18 I’m unable to delete messages off my watch without simultaneously deleting those messages off my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Before iOS 18 I was able to delete messages separately off my watch and keep those messages on my iPhone.. Not anymore..

Follow up: I was on the phone with Apple Support, who escalated my call. We did a lot of screen sharing, apple recording/mirroring of the phone/watch and diagnostic logs. They have the recording of the actual issue happening and the logs and will be sending to engineering for further review. They said they will reach back out next Monday (I have a call scheduled with them) to discuss next steps. Hoping that maybe now that they have actual recordings of it disappearing from my phone when I'm deleting from my watch, they can look at the logs and create a fix!! I'll keep you posted!!
I was hoping for a fix/update by now. But I agree. I use my phone for work. I keep messages on my new iPhone 16pro because I work with physicians and patients. Now I have keep all those messages on my watch. Where before I would just have messages from my family members on my watch. Its is so annoying. Ever since this new IOS update, apple programming jacked up the original configuration.
Apple Support confirmed that for the devices where Text Message Forwarding is turned on, on your iPhone, deleting text messages from the Apple Watch will delete messages from those devices.
This unfortunately is not the case I tested this with Apple and they still get deleted even if you turn off that function
When I tested this with Apple, the same thing happened. It is definitely not a iCloud sync issue.
This is a major issue that needs to be addressed. VERY frustrating!!!
