I don’t understand that move Favorites to the middle of nowhere in Photos App. I use it every time when I open App. Now I need to scroll and find it. How bad was that decision by Apple Developers’ Team?

Apple needs to change it back , we did not ask for This it’s absolutely makes no sense 😑

Who is "we?" What group are you speaking for?

Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, use the feedback link already provided in this thread to let them know your thoughts. I've let them know how much I like the re-design.

Wow. Like Photos update? You seem to be in the minority.

While Lawrence may be a minority who likes it in this thread (I also like it), that tells us nothing about what percentage of people who own iPhones think. People who dislike something are far, far more likely to post publicly about it than people who do like it or who don't really care all that much. I suspect that the latter is the majority.

I have avoided updating because of all the concerns I have seen online. YouTube, etc.

Believing what you see on YouTube is a sure way to get a lot of bad information and lose a lot of sleep.

I have over 300 albums and don't want to lose them.

I didn't lose any albums. They are all still in the app. Yes, the layout is different and there are some different features. But nothing got removed. I think there may be people who, without realizing what they were doing, unticked "Albums" in "Customize & Reorder." And I can see why that might be a bit scary.

Have read that all photos are scrambled and not able to sort.

My library is still sorted the way it was before.

The people who do seem to have issues are the folks who sync all of their photos to their computer by cable, do sorting and organization and then move them back. But honestly, that's always had its issues, notably that you couldn't delete those albums. If you are someone who manages their photos that way, upgrading may not be the way to go. Unfortunately, I suspect people who do that are now in the minority and Apple is not interested in supporting that anymore.

Have spoken with Apple Help and they do admit that there are issues with this new Photos set up.

Yes, it's different and there's a learning curve. Until you've played with it a bit, it can seem like it doesn't work, rather than works differently.

I like what I have had for years. Normally am keen to update for new features but not this time. Can get no reassurance from anyone that my albums will still be there after the update.

Lots of people would prefer that certain favorite apps never change. I get it. But I'm sure we all know that's not the way the world works.

And again, my albums are all still there.

I still haven’t found someone (including a chat with Apple) who can explain to me if my current folders and albums transfer over into IOS 18. I have read a fair bit about IOS 18 Photos and understand the way you can customize but no one has assured me that my over 300 albums which contain mostly my photos, both from iPhones and SLR old camera but also screen captures, scanned photos and those gained from

others. I have not updated because I don’t want to lose my folders and albums the way they are currently organized. Was hoping an IOS 18 update might deal with the folder and album issue but so far nothing. I don’t like to avoid updates for too long as that means that I am missing security updates. I have an iPhone 15 Pro.

I told you that they should (and did for me) back on November 13 in this very thread. It doesn't appear that you ever responded to me or asked more questions. This is also the experience of everyone I've discussed it with.

Could you be the one in a million who has a problem? I suppose. That's about the same as the odds of being struck by lightning but we still go outside.

Thank you for your messages. Both are reassuring. Not sure why I am so paranoid as over many years have never had any issue with Apple products. After reading the earlier reviews where there were many negative comments it scared me off of updating. And a good point is that the many thousands that had no issues are not likely to post any comments!

and….some users are not adept at using the technology so maybe were not following directions to begin with.

I have 2 friends who finally updated to IOS 18 and they have no albums remaining! So once again I am still avoiding the update. I have watched several training videos and know how to customize once I have the app but still no one has reassured me that my albums will transfer the way I have them organized now. None of my friends have many albums like I do so not help for me. I have over 300 and have not found anyone with that many.

How can you like a re design thot causes so many issues? I have to now decide what to do with my photos as I may have to give up on my iPhone which I love. But my photos are very important and I won’t update until someone answers my question that are in the same situation as me. I have found no one who has as many albums as I do and organized like I do.

You will find it enlightening to read a few pages of the thread you added to without first checking. On this page alone you will find solutions, and even learn why this Photo app is a significant improvement over the old one.

Thank you simIANdisco. I hate this new update too. Apple please change this back so we can find our favorites etc albums.

There are 10 pages of posts in the thread that you just added to; about half of them provide easy ways to customize your Photos app easily access Favorites and to put Favorites wherever you want it. So it might be worth your while to actually read a thread before adding to it.

Why would Apple delete an album called Favorites since it contains - duh - favorites? So stupid - can’t find anywhere. These are very important things to me - thus were favorites!

It would have been stupid if that's what they had dont. But Apple did NOT delete the Favoirites albu. The Favorites album is still there. Instructions on where to find it have been given repeatedly in this thread.

My wife updated her iPhone 11 Pro to IOS 18 last week. Her "Favourites" album showed up immediately at the top of the "Pinned Collections". She then 'customized' and removed some choices from the Home Photos page and all is good. But I still have not updated my iPhone 15 Pro because I still have not been reassured that my albums will remain intact. My wife's update carried her albums over just fine but she only has 6 albums vs me having over 300. So, I remain waiting to update. I almost have updated several times then read another post where someone lost their album set up.

Where is "Favorite" in iPhone Photos app in iOS 18?
